I’ve recently found this website and I’ve never seen a story take a dark turn from sweetness except in games. This story reminds me of a game where the rabbit was all tough and detective-like(click to tweet). The game is called “Alice is Dead”, I think.

“Eat your cake, Alice” is a short story published on May 18th, 2018 on LitLatte.com by Pavan Kumar Rambatla. It appears to be a retelling of the classic story, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alice has her usual tea party with her friends, the Mad Hatter, March Hare, the angel, the parrot, and the caterpillar.
She had a good time until she felt that something wasn’t right, and at that moment, her friends brought her cake. When she was too late to eat it, everything disappeared and went back to the real world.
This story had fantastic verbs, good transition, and great symbolism. The cake’s sweet taste makes it seem like we are living in a dream world where things are always good. The sugarless bread that the innocent people eats symbolizes the taste of the real world and its hardships.
I loved that the story took the original material and turned it into something new that anyone can relate to. I don’t see any flaw that the story had except a grammar error.
I really think that the author is a fan of classic stories and had to be to create something awesome like this. I saw that he has written other stories as well, and I’ll read some of them soon.
