Have you ever read Clouds in the Sky and Entry of a Soul Lover? You must’ve by now since I’ve been mentioning them ever since. And I’m sure some of you are wondering where those stories came from (me, of course). I mean where my ideas of those stories came from. In this post, I’ll explain.
I just need to tell you now, that those stories… were drafts. That’s right. When I finished them, I literally posted them like that without changing minor details to them. You must never do that in your own writing. It’ll probably be changed later like what I’m doing now. Now, I’ll be going over Clouds in the Sky.

Clouds in the Sky
Currently, this story was about a protagonist who had a dream about them being in a vast sky full of clouds. Later on, they interact with the clouds and later meet a dragon that they ride on until the end of the story. The plot was very simple. It was too simple that I’m planning on adding more to it.
Before I wrote the story, I was searching for short story contests online that I could participate in either to improve my skills or to try to write a short story.
I stumbled upon this contest that had the deadline tonight! The prompt was something about being in another world that is fascinating to the protagonist. As soon as I read this, I got started right away with an idea that popped into my head.
I finished the story very quickly, formatted it to fit into the contest rules, and submitted it on the same night. Later in the year, I’ve almost forgotten about that contest and figured out that I didn’t win due to the amount of time that past. Now, I was stuck with this story that I was free to do whatever with.
Entry of a Soul Lover
This story is about a girl writing a diary entry about what she saw outside. She then writes about her thoughts on soulmates and closes the entry with a heart. This girl was supposedly obsessed with love and souls.
During February, I was on Wattpad and stumbled across a contest they were doing about the movie, Every Day. The prompt of the contest was to create a story or anecdote on finding your soulmate.
I found that it could be a great thing to do right now and got started with yet another random idea. I was done on the same day and submitted it. Near the end of February, I figured out that I didn’t win and that I didn’t get tickets to see Every Day. Oh well. I wasn’t fond of romance anyway.
Those didn’t seem to be all that weird background anecdotes. I figure that there’s always a catch to the backgrounds of contemporary or even historical short stories. I bet one of you know a weird story behind a short story you like. You might even have your own. If you do, share it in the comments! Also, tell your friends about this new post. Until next time…
